At last I managed to get my shit together. I actually don't like being in front of the camera, I get all self conscious and can't concentrate. At the same time I really like other people's video blogs and I think it should be a vital part of a site like this so I'll just have to get use to it I guess. Besides it may be good for me, a "therapeutic" exercise in not being in control. We joked about control me and Jonathan once and concluded that it's better to do something flawed than nothing perfect. Don't you agree? It's easy to get stuck on your ass thinking about all the things that has to be just right in order to make it worthwhile to shoot. Woody Allen says somewhere that it's hard being a director with a vision when each morning on the set a truck pulls up full of fresh compromises. Anyway I hope the only thing you'll notice in the blog is that there are a couple of censuring-edits and also I ramble a bit. (contest - how many times do I say the word "Sequence" in this clip? First to get it right wins something... don't know what yet, I'll find something) I briefly talk about how j and I work with scripts, we use something J picked up at the Maurits Binger Film Institute years ago called the sequence approach (more here, good book here). I know there are millions of approaches to great writing but this is one that suits us. Next up for me is to finish the other sequences and upload them on the forum. Then I'll make a new viddybloggythingy answering some of the questions I get about the script so far. I feel really good about this fall. The last two weeks have been filled with water-leaks and refurbishing in my small office. Now I'm all yours!! Let's get going!
