Good deed of the day

Had to save the project this morning. There were some thoughts on having a closed members area on the (soon to be launched) The Pact Project site. Also, the project blog were to be placed inside this area...

Now that just fucks up my strategy (not that it such a strategy exists just yet, but still).

In a closed members area you can link your beloved crowd contributors in exciting directions, but then what? No-one can really link into the close area – and why bother pinging any portals? It will just cause irritation if you find that someone is linking to your blog and you just can’t see who or why unless you sign up!

So, of course there will be VIP-areas and secret stuff for our favorite crowd contributors, but this must be a open project in every sense of the word - if we want this to work.

I'm all for all open! But

I'm all for all open! But then I'm not in charge of the revenue model...

There are other ways

We can work with watcher/contributor instead of closed/open. And as far as advertising and affiliating goes, a huge chunk of relevant traffic can hopefully make up for it financially.

Absolutely.

We're all thankful for your save.
