"true story" Interview with a schizophrenic

Hi everyone, after almost a year on youtube and some 75000 views someone (welcome to the site and thank you for a most relevant question) has asked us if the film is really documentary or an act. I know there's a discussion on youtube and although I actually answered this question on youtube some months ago the discussion continues. Well here's the story:

The film is shot in a studio with an actor, but it  is actually a word by word reenactment of an interview I saw a couple of years ago. So every word, meaning and context is "real" or "true" but performed by an actor. Also I have conducted several interviews with patients and wardens to verify the content further. That's why we chose to call it "True Story" despite it being an actor.

Furthermore, people complain about the use of "asylum" maybe it's not the preferred word in the US but I thought the definition simply was "psychiatric hospital".  The set design and set dressing is precisely that of a schizophrenic patient in a long term mental hospital in most part of Europe where the patients are locked in but responsible for their own small studio apartments. It varies  a lot of course depending on the patients health and abilities. I think this form exists in the states as well. I'd love to learn about these things  so please tell me if you know more.

Schizophrenia is a very provoking and engaging subject and as such also inspiring to me as an artist. My take is to  create a story where the need and hope of evidence of a god or deity leads a priest to exploit a poor soul at an asylum. I use the format of a horror movie but I sincerely hope I can inject some deeper issues concerning not only the treatment of schizophrenia/mental patients and thoughts and attitudes of our time. I guess no one sets out to make a superficial film and these are the ingredients that makes a film stand out and be remembered. Entertaining - absolutely , I mean it's a horror movie,  but it must at the same time be interesting in terms of the setting, conflict and characters. So while I sincerely hope I do not offend any poor victims of this disease I also hope they can respect my take on it as a filmmaker, maybe this can even help the general debate on the psychiatric treatment. At least a bit. Who knows? When we get further we should definitely have a discussion on exactly how we could achieve this.

no time but...fun

Hey everyone, right now we are busy redesigning our site, but unfortunately it coincides with a lot of work on other fronts, other projects that need attention. In my slightly chaotic life right now I can't really find the time to make a substantial blog post. I like it but I'm slow at writing for the blog. Next week I'll have more time for you, my favorite project, I promise. I have two more small clips lined up with interviews of schizophrenics, further demonstrating the thin line between psychosis and (belief to be) possession.

Meantime just had to drop in to give you the latest and coolest in Crowdmarketing -

Update on Demonic Rules

Work on the demonic rulebook is coming along nicely. One thing I think we need to decide is whether there is a Hell or not, I mean I love talk about the Beast and Satan and such but also unspecified evil like in Stephen Kings books. What do y'all think of the existing hierarchies ? such as  this or this?

Bigge suggested a motivation of the Demon, why it wants to cross over to our world. It's a good point, it must be clear what will happen if the demon succeeds or not. Good point Henning to mix it all up with free will haha. It'll be messy but exciting. Maybe even more rewarding for the demon to overtake a person with a strong mind of his own. (of course I think you're crazy, that's why we're here, sane people watches telly or something)

To sum it up so far:
We need a timeconstraint, starconstellations etc, otherwise the demon can try everyday and that'd be boring.
What does the demon want and what effects will it have for us humans? (started thinking about possession just as a foothold, without it the demon can't  use powers in our world, which brings us back to the question what does it want and what powers does it have)

Mrs Liden suggested a BBC-series "Strange" which sounded really interesting. Anyone know where to get a hold of it?

Thanks for comments, happy to have you all here. Don't forget to tell us what you'd like to see on the site, what works and not. A facelift is underway and your suggestion appreciated.

Love H

Disclaimer, not....?

This is superhard for me. I just put out the remaining sequences. our new take is to lay down the whole structure and then insert scene after scene, basically on a daily basis. But that means that the plot is not worked through and looks silly but it's just a skeleton. Just watch me flesh it out in the coming weeks. Bare with me, I promise there are kickass scenes just around the corner. Big kiss Henk
